I am a proud former employee of the U.S. government.
I spent 16 years at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) working to protect people who volunteer to participate in scientific research.
Federal workers are not the enemy... and we are not the "Deep State."
We are smart, hard-working, caring people focused on helping others (and we don't go into government for the money... on average we earn 25% less than our private-sector counterparts).
We are people trying to improve the lives of our fellow Americans. Defending and protecting you... educating your children... making sure your water is safe to drink... putting out the fires that threaten your homes... delivering your mail.
Without us... the quality, efficiency and safety of the lives of Americans will decline.
The U.S. government isn't perfect. Things sometimes don't work well.
But we -- civil servants -- are not the enemy.
We are you.
